Candidate Electronic Design Engineer (vacancy)
About the job:
The CSIR has a vacancy for candidate electronic design engineer in the in the radar and electronic warfare impact area, within the defence and security cluster. The incumbent will be responsible to develop world-class high speed digital hardware, firmware, and embedded sotfware for electronic defence applications. This position is based in pretoria.
Key responsibilities:
> Develop (design, layout and firmware developmant) of high-speed digital modules for advanced EW scenario simulators.
> Develop, control, interface and signal distribution modulas for advanced hardware-in-loop facilities.
> Layout PC boards for Radio Frequency designs.
> Assemble, debug, set-to-work and testing of hardware.
> Support procurement of components.
> Provide cofiguration control and version management of designs, layout and manufacturing files.
Qualifacations, skills and experience:
> A bachelor of Engineering degree in electronic engineering.
> An Honours or Masters degree in the relevant field will be advantageous.
> Experience in the following will be advantageous:
* Debugging hardware.
* Firmware and embedded software development.
* High-speed digital and mixed signal hardware design.
> Must have the following skills/ training:
* Formal/ informal hardware design.
* Formal/ informal embedded software training.
*Multiple operating systems.
* Proven capability of document preparation
