SAAMBR - Shaka Marine world (Assistant Curator) vacancy

ASSISTANT CURATOR- MAMMAL AND BIRD

The responsibilities are not limited to and will include:

*Overseeing quality implementaion of the mammal and bird visitor experience.

*Tracking, planning and maintaining progress of the behaviour management for visitor experience and animal care.

*Supporting the management of all mammal and bird teams.

*Supporting and endorsing the objectives of the Saambr

*Standing in for the Curator in their absence.

Requirements for the position are:

*Tertiary education in a relevant discipline or appropriate knowledge.

*At least five years staff management experience in an animal-keeping organisation.

*Sound knowledge of captive marine animal welfare, husbandry and health management.

*Industry experience with marine mammals.

*Exceptional understanding of behaviour management processes.

*Proven commitment to conservation.

*Proven management of effective guest experiences.

*Passion for mentorship and capacity building.

*Good undersanding of BCEA and proven use of perfomance management processes.

*Sound understanding of life support systems and water treatment, water quality nad its management.

* Proven ability to manage a team to progess.

*Physically fit and able to pass a swim test.

*Proven reportingskills and ability to cometently use microsoft products and databases.

*Ability to consistently work fexible hours incuding weekends and public holidays.

*Ability to communicate objectively with confidence and clarity, through excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

*Proven ability to work under pressure.

* Budget management experience.

*A motivated individual wuth a can-do attitude and good communication skills and a high level of EQ
